On May 19th, we had the immense pleasure of welcoming Glynn Christian, a distinguished food critic, television presenter for BBC TV's Breakfast Time, renowned food author, food writer, TV chef, and food reporter from the United Kingdom, to Spices 29. Hosting such a revered figure in the culinary world was an honor, and sharing our passion for exceptional Indian cuisine with him was an experience we will cherish.

"It was my honour to eat at Spice 29. Nelson, his wife Selma, and his family have a genuine understanding of hospitality, which is seen in everything they do. Among the Goanese treats I shared with my family members were the specialty of cauliflower florets expertly cooked in a crisp, spiced chickpea-flour coating by chef Praveen Kumar and a whole Tandoori barramundi – how did Tandoor chef Armarjeet Singh present something so tasty and succulent from a Tandoor oven? Praveen should indeed be proud of Spice 29’s Goat Xacuti, really tender, bone-on meat with roasted spices, a little coconut cream and toddy vinegar. It’s a Goan specialty and must be outstanding because it’s the first time I have ever enjoyed eating goat! Recommended. As they say in Michelin Guides, Spice 29 is well worth a detour, and I envy those who have it on their doorstep in Woy Woy. No wonder it wins local and national awards and is still doing so. PS: The many Tandoori breads are superb, but I am extremely happy to munch on the plain naan, before during and after whatever else I eat. Oh, and I also recommend the extraordinary Goanese rum as a digestif. Thanks again, Nelson, Praveen and Armajeet. I’ll be back. See you there?"
